The Piastonalia Students Festival kicks off on May 20th
In brief, the program of this year’s Piastonalia at Opole University of Technology, the largest student event, includes two days of concerts, film screenings, sports competitions, a motorcycle rally with the rector, and plenty of other attractions.
“The Student Cultural Spring, known as Piastonalia, is an important event in the student calendar. We know that students are eagerly awaiting this event. This year, the Student Council has prepared a variety of attractions that will surely interest both students and residents of our city and region,” informs Prof. Marcin Lorenc, Rector of the Opole University of Technology.
“On Monday, May 20th, between the Zyzgak and Zaścianek dormitories, as part of the outdoor cinema, you’ll be able to watch the Oscar-winning film ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once,’ and right nearby, between the Zyzgak and Pryzma dormitories, there will be a disco. Tuesday is the time for a picnic with the Rectors, during which you can compete in popular foosball games or participate in strongman competitions. On Tuesday, May 21st, we have planned a hip-hop concert, and the following day, a rock concert. Besides that, there are plenty of diverse attractions awaiting students, such as cultural events, sports activities, and various tournaments,” lists Wojciech Wojnar, the chairman of the Student Council of the Opole University of Technology.
On Wednesday the Żakinada, a students costume parade, will start from the first campus. Its culmination will be the receiving of symbolic keys to the gates of Opole from the hands of the city’s mayor, thereby symbolizing the students taking over control of the city.
