Judyta Czurlok, a graduate of Industrial Design from Opole University of Technology, has just started a nine-month internship in Portugal at BA GLASS company.

In December 2023, Opole University of Technology organized BA GLASS DAY in cooperation with BA GLASS Huta Jedlice. It is one of the largest producers of glass packaging for many well-known brands in the region. As part of the event, in addition to numerous workshops, students could also participate in a competition, which involved answering one of two questions:

What are the main challenges related to maintaining operations in a glassworks, and what benefits can effective maintenance bring?

What actions would you take if the glassworks experiences a sudden drop in product quality and a customer files a complaint?

Over 30 students participated in the competition. Judyta answered two questions and surprised the competition committee. ‘The reason she won was both her solution to both tasks and the way she presented them (mind map, presentation, detailed analysis, content). It might seem that the questions would be easier for mechanics, yet Judyta’s unconventional approach caused her work to significantly outshine the others and caught the attention of each juror.’ – reports Ewa Tonder from BA GLASS company.

The main prize in the competition was a nine-month internship in Portugal. The company covers round-trip flights, accommodation, and internship salary. Judyta will spend the first week at the headquarters in Avintes near Porto and the rest of the internship at the Marinha Grande glassworks, in the design department.
