Our Students on the Podium of a Prestigious Competition

After their experiences in the university robotics lab, they decided to test their skills by competing against representatives from Poland’s top universities. The event in question is the prestigious Robo Challenge 2025, where our students secured third place.

‘Robo Challenge 2025 is a nationwide competition in programming industrial robots. The competition was fierce, with seven universities participating, including those from major academic centres such as Gliwice, Warsaw, and Kraków. First place was within reach, but we finished in third place,‘ says Dominik Fila, a second-year master’s student in automation and robotics.

The AGH University of Science and Technology took first place, while Crakow University came second.

The competition featured 20 diverse workstations, each requiring the completion of a specific task. ‘Each task consisted of four stages, and we earned points for each completed stage. Additional points were awarded for fully completing the task, as well as for finishing ahead of the allocated time. To compete with the best, we had to complete most tasks ahead of schedule,’ explains Jakub Pawelec, a graduate in automation and robotics.

One of the tasks required programming a robot to follow the correct paths for movement and welding. Another involved designing movement paths for the robot using a specialized computer program, which was then transferred to a real manipulator to perform surface grinding. Another challenge focused on defect detection in components—determining whether a part was correctly manufactured or had defects,’ describes Jakub Pawelec.

The knowledge gained during our studies proved invaluable in the competition. Our plans include completing our master’s degrees and continuing our involvement in scientific research groups. We want to keep developing,’ emphasizes Andrzej Neumann.
