Our students are testing an innovative board

Content from the board directly on a laptop or mobile phone. Materials gathered in one place, which can be accessed at any time – this is the idea behind ShareTheBoard, a modern application currently being tested for the first time in the country by students of the Opole University of Technology.
The application is easy to use. All you need to do is connect a camera—you can also use the built-in laptop camera and point it at the board. Then, the lecturer conducts the class as usual, using a marker and writing on the board. At any moment, a student can log into the application and view what is happening on the board on their mobile device or laptop. The content on the board is digitized and enhanced in real time, making it more legible. The students can see everything happening on the board in real time.
The idea to create the application is a response to the needs of people with disabilities, dyslexia, visual impairments, and more. It is also a solution for those who, for example, due to illness or injury, are unable to attend classes. The first tests are being conducted among students at the Opole University of Technology: according to a survey, over 92% of our university’s students would like this technology to be available in every classroom, especially in subjects such as mathematics and languages. ‘I have already had the opportunity to use the application while teaching language classes. Above all, it’s something that doesn’t disrupt the flow of the lesson for the instructor. I hope it catches on. It’s a great help not only for students with disabilities or learning difficulties,’ says Magdalena Dolińska, the rector’s plenipotentiary for quality of education at the Opole University of Technology.
